where east comes west

If you’re curious about exploring the different cultures of London, Chinatown is the perfect place to start.

Located less than five minutes from Assembly, Chinatown boasts a great selection of Chinese restaurants, bakeries, bubble tea parlours, bars and supermarkets. Not to mention some of the best dim sum hang outs you're likely to find in the city.

The New Loon Moon Supermarket sits at the heart of Chinatown and is a fascinating insight to Chinese cuisine, selling not only a vast selection of Chinese foods and drinks, but also cooking utensils, crockery and celebratory decorations.

If you are a fan of dumplings, you must try Dumplings Legend. Although this restaurant offers a range of traditional Chinese dishes, dumplings are its speciality with around 30 options available on the menu.

Looking for somewhere special for a drink, look no further than the Experimental Cocktail Club, one of Chinatown's best kept secrets. Note that this bar is not easy to find and is not well signed. In fact, it is a simple plain, brown door that leads up to the bar. If you didn't know it was there, you wouldn't see it. Bookings are an absolute must.

If you do decide to come and stay at Assembly in February, you might just be lucky enough to experience Chinese New Year celebrations in Chinatown. Experience the area erupt with colour, music and energy and the locals take to the streets to welcome in and celebrate the New Year. In 2021, Chinese New Year falls on February 12th!
